I know children struggle with the perception of time, but Tanis takes the concept to new heights. She
often speaks of a time “before you and mom were born”. Apparently, only Tanis and our dog, Posey,
lived for a long period of time before we entered the picture. I try to catch
her by asking questions like, where did you live? Who drove to CVS to
pick up the pudding pops? And, where did you get the money? Oddly,
she always has a decent response. Like, my friends drove me. Or, I took the
money from my piggy bank. She’s got her bases covered. She’s creepy like that.
So, today, I'm going to create a new category: Before Mom and Dad. I'll begin with this little nugget as we left the house this morning:
"Before you and mom were born, when Posey and I went to Florida, we fed elephants bread."
